United Chelmsford Churches 2 –
2 Braintree & Bocking
Ten men Bocking escaped with a point after being awarded two late penalties. UCC started the game well, hassling
Bocking who struggled to replicate last weeks passing and movement. The home side were having their fare share of possession
too and found themselves a player up when Dave Morgan was sent off for foul and abusive language. UCC then took the lead,
George Harle’s poor defending allowed John Delacy through down the left hand side and his cross was drilled home from
4 yards. 1-0 down at half time and things got worse for Bocking when a long ball forward was not dealt with and was tucked
home from close range. Despite this, Bocking never gave up and the man advantage was hard to see. A glimmer of hope was given
to the away side on 88 minutes when sub Adam Arkley was bundled over in the box and G. Harle slotted the ball home. The game
was end to end and one final attack in the 93rd minute led to Pete Morgan being tripped inside the box. The ref
bravely pointed to the spot once again and up stepped Harle who smashed the ball into the roof of the net.

Focus Ferrers 1 – 8 Braintree &
Bocking
A fine display from Dave Morgan’s men despite going behind early on from a dreadful goal to concede. The
away side had all the possession and were soon on level terms, a delightful reverse pass from Paul Ansell was headed home
by Dave Morgan. Bocking took the lead shortly after when Sean Robins bundled his way through the Focus midfield and the ball
ran across the box to George Harle who curled a shot that flicked the underside of the bar and in. The third goal came from
penalty spot when G. Harle was brought down and he stepped up and sent the keeper the wrong way. Harle then completed a first
half hat trick latching onto Robins through ball and lofting the ball over the advancing keeper. 4-1 at half time and Bocking
continued to press; D. Morgan’s persistence allowed him to score a rare right footed goal and he then completed his
hat trick, converting a cross from his brother Pete. Pete then scored two in quick succession to complete the rout, the first
was a lovely chipped finish from a deflected cross and the second a composed finished when through on goal.

Braintree & Bocking 1 – 1
Little Waltham
A tough match against decent opposition in which Bocking picked up a point in a game that could
have gone either way. Bocking flew out the blocks in the first 15 minutes and had most of the ball without creating any clear
cut chances. Little Waltham came back into the game and started putting pressure on Bocking’s back four, half chances
came and went for both sides. 0-0 at the break, but it was Bocking who took the lead on 70 minutes when Dave Morgan out paced
Little Waltham’s back line and finished superbly into the roof of the net. The away side began to pile on the pressure
and should have equalised but struck the post from 10 yards out. They did get their goal on 85 minutes; a cross from wide
right was miss hit and flew straight into the roof of Simon Turnnidge’s goal leaving him with no chance.

Braintree & Bocking 2 – 1 Great Baddow
A hard fought three points for Bocking on the opening day against promoted Baddow. Bocking started
by knocking the ball around well but the away side defended tightly and chances were few and far between, George Harle having
the best opening that produced a great save but he should have scored. Baddow were very direct in their play, Grant O’Donnell
and James Lock dealing with most of the long balls launched there way until the 25th minute. Baddows right sided
midfielder latched onto a ball over the top and produced a decent cross into the box that was tapped home. Bocking continued
to see a lot of possession but created very little, final ball after final ball going astray. It took until first half stoppage
time for an end product to come, Adam Arkely’s perfectly chipped through ball was lobbed over the advancing keeper by
G. Harle. The second half saw Baddow see more of the ball than the first and the game could have gone either way. Sub Pete
Morgan clipped a shot onto the bar and had an effort blocked from close range and Baddow went within inches of taking a late
lead when Simon Turnnidge was beaten only for Sam Harle to head off the line. Into the final few minutes and Bocking were
awarded a disputed corner that Tom Wright took quickly. The ball was cleared but only as far as O’Donnell who drove
the ball home with a left foot swinger. A winning start for Dave Morgan’s men but better performances will be needed
if they are to emulate last season’s successes.

Silver End United 1 – 5 Braintree
& Bocking
Bocking made an impressive start to the season with a fine win. It took the visitors just 12 seconds
to take the lead when George Harle intercepted some hesitant defending and then slid the ball home from inside the area. The
game then settled with both teams knocking the around but it was Bocking who increased there advantage when Dave Morgan flicked
on a Harle corner for James Lock to score at the second attempt. This gave Bocking the confidence to really take the game
to Silver End, Adam Arkley was a constant threat on the left and tough tackling debutant Adam Madgett was breaking down any
progression from the Silver End midfield. The third goal came after half hour, some good work and an excellent delivery from
Tom Wright found its way to the impressive Paul Ansell, who finished well into the top corner. A fourth goal was soon to follow,
right back Adam Dale with a pile driver from 30 yards after collecting a pass from Madgett, what a way to open your account
for a new team. The second half was a much more even affair. Silver End pulled a goal back through a quickly taken free kick,
a fine strike catching the away side napping but they failed to really test Bocking and the 4 goal lead was restored when
Peter Morgan dispossessed a defender and tucked the ball away neatly at the near post. Bocking will be looking to build on
this performance going into next Saturday’s league opener and manger Dave Morgan will be impressed with this display.
A final word goes out to the friends and family of Richard Galley, who the game is played in memory of and we thank Silver
End for inviting us along
